The International TerraStar

When you have a job with high demands, you need a commercial-duty truck that’s up to the task. Built on the three pillars of commercial-duty performance—ease of operation, efficient power, and commercial-grade components—International® TerraStar® is ready to lend a helping hand.

“TerraStar hails from 100 years of truck-building experience. That expertise shows in every facet of this truck,” according to International. “If you need a tough, reliable, and efficient work truck that’ll get the job done, TerraStar isn’t just up for the job—it was born for it.”

TerraStar’s engine boasts an impressive 500,000 B50 life. With a high-pressure common rail fuel system, dual sequential turbochargers, and a compacted graphite iron block, it just doesn’t get any more efficient than this.

“The Maxxforce® 7 is built strong with a V8 turbodiesel, incorporating advanced design elements and components from Navistar’s market-leading 16 commercial engines,” according to International. The Maxxforce 7 is a 6.4L V8 turbodiesel providing 220 to 300 hp and 560 to 660 lb-ft of torque—designed to meet medium-duty truck customer needs.

TerraStar uses an Allison fully automatic transmission to meet your medium-duty needs with commercial-grade quality and durability. The MaxxForce 7 engine paired with an Allison 1000 Series transmission provides the perfect balance of power, performance, reliability, and fuel economy. “Shift Energy Management provides better engine/transmission integration to achieve optimum shift quality. Load-Based Shift Scheduling automatically selects between economy and performance shift schedules based on actual payload and grade,” according to International.

But, what’s all that power without a durable, long-lasting frame to hold it? At 80,000 psi, TerraStar’s frame is the strongest in its class. Designed to take on commercial-grade loads, you won’t see TerraStar’s frame flex and bend under stress.

International makes a priority out of giving customers the best options and equipment from the top manufacturers. That’s why it chose Fabco—the leader in AWD transfer cases and steer drive axles for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles—to provide the TerraStar’s transfer case. “Because of the uniquely robust design of the gear-driven TC-28 transfer case, TerraStar 4×4 owners will have vehicle capabilities exceeding the other Class 4 and 5 truck offerings in the market,” according to International.

Fabco’s transfer case is designed to last longer and take higher loads than chain-driven transfer cases from the competitors. “Its helical forged gears are 94% stronger than gears in other transfer cases and are designed to outlast its weaker, chain-driven competitors. The TC-28’s cast iron housing provides more strength and less deflection than competitive transfer cases with aluminum housings,” according to International.

TerraStar’s cab is made of high-strength, double-sided galvanized steel and meets the most strict government rollover requirements for commercial trucks. But, it’s not just strong—it’s comfortable. TerraStar’s spacious cab gives you seven inches more interior width, nine inches more headroom, two inches more belly room, and 20% more overall cab volume compared to leading competitors.

Keeping drivers safe and comfortable is a significant selling point, but is it enough? Your fleet, your business, can add the security of International’s OnCommand™ Connection. OnCommand Connection is here to help you keep your fleet in order—no matter how many trucks, no matter what manufacturer, OnCommand Connection is the only telematics solution you’ll need.

So, whether you’re in utility or pickup and delivery, landscaping or construction, beverage, emergency, or recovery, you may want to consider TerraStar as the star edition to your fleet.
