Verizon Triples Telematics Coverage with Verizon Connect

A ONE-STOP TELEMATICS SOLUTION

VERIZON CONNECT

Combine three industry-leading telematics systems: Telogis, Fleetmatics, and Verizon Telematics. Add $5 billion in investments. Offer a one-stop approach to vehicle software solutions. Get results that help improve safety, productivity, and efficiency.

These goals were the driving force behind the launch of Verizon Connect, the recent integration of Verizon’s existing connected vehicle division with Telogis and Fleetmatics under one name. Be more informed about vehicle and worker location and compliance with a team of 3,500 dedicated professionals and nearly 20 years of telematics, mobile workforce, and fleet management expertise behind your software.

“One of the things we’re most proud of at Verizon Connect is the potential our current and future technologies have for massive societal impact,” Andrés Irlando, CEO of Verizon Connect, says. “We’re working with customers to maintain cold chain integrity and keep perishable items safe during transport, routing customers’ vehicles more efficiently to reduce emissions, monitoring vehicle diagnostics to improve fuel efficiency, and providing a gamification app that helps customers recognize and reward their safest drivers, just to name a few.”

WORKFORCE ADVANTAGE

One way Verizon Connect is paving the way to more efficient telematics is through Workforce, a one-stop solution that helps operations and fleet managers dispatch, plan, monitor, capture form data from the field, and communicate with customers.

Available in three plans—Essential, Enhanced, and Ultimate—Workforce is designed to meet the growing workforce management needs of the industry, including retaining drivers, improving work experience, and communication with workers in the field.

Easily assign and dispatch work, capture field data via digital forms, and monitor productivity through planned versus actual (PVA) reporting, with the Workforce Essential plan.

The Enhanced and Ultimate plans are designed for those with more complex needs. Intelligent dispatch, allowing managers to easily dispatch work while taking necessary business constraints, licensing requirements, and commercial navigation into account, is among the key enhancements of these plans.

Other key elements include up-to-the-minute driver estimated time of arrival (ETA) to their customers and strategic planning that helps businesses make the best use of their vehicles and field workers through advanced optimization algorithms, including route optimization. Allowing customers to plan around factors such as mile reductions, electronic logging device (ELD) compliance, and customer service-level agreements (SLAs) are also features of the Enhanced and Ultimate plans.

Kevin Moore, vice president of global OEM automotive sales for Verizon Connect, says this system has the potential to connect the fleet customer to the work, the work to the worker, the worker to the customer, and the customer to the vehicle.

For example, Workforce, through Verizon Connect, could close the standard four-hour gap of estimated delivery time by offering more accurate ETA, improving customer relations and increasing the likelihood of repeated business.

“Operations and fleet managers want one place where they can find everything they need to be able to monitor and adjust work plans throughout the day without compromising productivity,” Mark Wallin, vice president of product management at Verizon Connect, says. “Workforce provides a simplified approach to mobile workforce management that gives customers easy access to the actionable data that can help drive operational efficiencies and cost savings.”

NEW AND GROWING

The industry is catching on.

Ram Commercial partnered with Verizon Connect for its factory-fit telematics software solutions on Ram commercial vehicles. Ram Telematics, powered by Verizon Connect, is available this year as a factory-fit feature on new Ram trucks and can be installed on select 2015 model year and newer light-duty, heavy-duty, and chassis cab trucks. Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City commercial vans will include Ram Telematics later this year.

No matter your location—in an office or on the road—Ram Telematics gives you complete visibility of your fleet’s operations. Log in on your desktop or mobile to view near real-time and historical activity, including location, vehicle health, and driver performance.

The Verizon Connect portfolio of solutions and services includes comprehensive fleet and mobile workforce management software platforms, embedded OEM hardware, and Hum by Verizon. Hum helps drivers stay connected to emergency assistance, vehicle diagnostics, maintenance reminders, roadside assistance, stolen vehicle assistance, and access to a mechanics hotline.
