Loading Ramps Provide a Secure Path to and from Elevated Vehicle Doors

LOADING AND UNLOADING EASE

National Fleet Products, a leading North American supplier of loading ramps and other aftermarket accessories for commercial vehicles, introduces several versions of its WM System Loading Ramps. Designed as a low-cost, maintenance-free alternative to hydraulic liftgates, WM System ramps are suitable for an array of vehicle applications, including everything from vans to box trucks to Class-8 trailers, and service and delivery vehicles of all types.

The ramps are lightweight, skid-resistant, and can handle load capacities of between 880 and 4,000 lbs. According to National Fleet Products, they “are so easy to deploy and retract even a kid could do it.”

Intelligently engineered to stow vertically just inside rear- and side-access doors, the WM System ramps measure approximately 8.5 inches deep when folded and locked. With a built-in spring-assist feature and sturdy side handles, the ramps require about 20 lbs of force and five seconds to unfold, and fold back into the vertical storage position.

“The ergonomic ease and simplicity of our WM System Loading Ramps is quite simply unparalleled within the commercial vehicle industry,” says Steven Peterson, president of National Fleet Products. “Compared to hydraulic liftgates, our WM System ramps require little training, are far faster, more reliable, and operate for years with virtually no maintenance, not to mention our equivalent load capacities.”

BRIDGE WORTHY

When needed, a WM System ramp can function as a bridge or gangplank for use with loading docks, vehicle-to-vehicle cargo transfers, and access to other elevated surfaces like steps. Whether used as a traditional ramp or as a horizontal span, the WM System provides a stable surface for those working on and around it.

WM System Loading Ramps come in two-panel configurations in lengths of 98 to 128 inches, and three-panel configurations in lengths of up to 16 feet. Ramp ends have rollers and adjustable flaps that can accommodate a variety of surface angles and textures.

LIGHT PLUS SERIES

The Light Plus Series is National Fleet Products most popular ramp system. Stock-size widths available for quick shipping are 37 inches and 47 inches; lengths include 98 inches, 108 inches, 126 inches, and 137 inches. All six models have load capacities of 1,300 lbs.

The ramps are constructed of high-quality aluminum for longevity in climates where they’re exposed to rain, snow, ice, and sand. They feature either solid or perforated surfaces.

Light Plus Series Loading Ramps are suitable for full-size vans, box on body, and full-size box trucks. Industries that choose Light Plus ramps include electricians, plumbers, lawn care and pool maintenance services, and delivery companies. They have third-piece extensions available to extend the ramps’ lengths.

PC SERIES

The PC Series is equipped to handle heavier loads than the Light Plus Series. Stock-size ramps’ loading capacity ranges from 2,200 to 3,300 lbs. All models measure 47 inches wide, and available lengths include 98 inches, 118 inches, and 128 inches. Custom sizes available for a variety of needs.

The ramps are made of high-quality aluminum, with a shot-blasted, anti-slip surface, and are suitable for full-size vans and box on body applications. Industries that commonly choose PC Series ramps include lawn care companies, and heavy-equipment transport firms such as concrete polishing and industrial floor-cleaning companies. These also have third-piece extensions available to extend the ramps’ lengths.

UNFETTERED ACCESS

Each ramp uses a swivel-action mechanism to swing 90 degrees in and out like a door, providing users unfettered access to the vehicle when the ramp is not in use. Vehicle-specific mounting plates are available for major platform makes and models, and installation can take as little as two hours. Since the ramps store inside vehicles when not in use, they aren’t exposed to weather and other elements that might lead to high repair and maintenance costs. They’re also less likely to accumulate rain, ice, and other elements that could make them slippery.

“By storing inside the vehicle until deployment, WM System Loading Ramps remain cleaner and drier than exterior-mounted hydraulic liftgates,” says Peterson. “The aluminum WM System ramps come in both ridged and shot-blast, anti-slip surface textures that significantly improve traction on inclined surfaces, while reducing the risk of injury from a loss of footing.”
