Get It Done in a Ram

4500/5500

Extreme-duty applications call for an extreme machine. The Ram 4500/5500 was designed just for that. The upfit-friendly chassis was built with direct input from customers just like you and keeps commercial buyers coming back for more.

POWER UP

HEMI and Cummins are household names among Ram owners. Both engines are available in the Ram 4500/5500. The 6.4-L HEMI V8 boasts 370 hp at 4,600 rpm and 429 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm. It features variable-valve timing (VVT) and Fuel Saver Technology cylinder deactivation. The 6.7-L Cummins diesel engine is available with a high-output option that produces 325 hp at 2,400 rpm and 750 lb-ft of torque at 1,500 rpm. Even the standard Cummins offers 320 hp at 2,800 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 rpm.

The Cummins also features a best-in-class 15,000-mile oil change interval, saving money with every mile. And, with a Ram 4500/5500, you’ll go for miles without stopping at the pump. The 4500/5500 features a dual fuel tank capacity of 74 gallons—a 52-gallon tank and a 22-gallon tank.

Having trouble towing your equipment from jobsite to jobsite? The Ram chassis has towing capabilities up to 30,600 lbs with the diesel engine. Front and rear brakes are equipped on all Ram 4500/5500 trucks with rotors more than 15 inches in diameter; don’t stress over stopping that load on a dime.

The Ram chassis also features Smart Exhaust Brake that uses two modes: full and automatic. Full exhaust braking provides maximum exhaust braking capability. Automatic exhaust braking maintains vehicle speed. Both of these systems are designed to help extend the life of brake pads and rotors.

PERSONALITY

Your fleet requires a truck that’s perfectly suited to fit your business, starting with the power of the chassis and ending with upfits. That’s why Ram made its 4500/5500 easy to customize to suit your business and maybe even your personality.

The Ram 4500/5500 comes with a vehicle system interface module (VSIM) that eases communication between aftermarket equipment and has standard frame lengths of 60, 84, 108, and 120 inches. The 4500/5500 features through-the-frame plumbing and electrical, and no lines or components are above the rear frame rails—both of which are desired features from any business owner looking to maximize the use of his fleet trucks.

The Ram 4500/5500 chassis has GVWR options from 15,000 to 19,000 lbs, so prepare to upfit to your exact needs—nothing is too heavy for your Ram. Sometimes upfitting to your exact needs calls for multiple applications on your vehicle, leading to multiple buttons and levers added inside your truck. Because of that, five auxiliary switches come standard on the Ram 4500/5500, further easing the process and cost of your upfit.

If you’re looking for a work truck with a little luxury added, the Ram 4500/5500 has plenty of options. New for 2018 models, Uconnect 4C NAV 8.4-inch touchscreen radios include Google Android Auto and Apple Car Play. And, lower-cost radios also feature handsfree technology with Bluetooth capability.

The 4500/5500 can also be ordered with an available ParkSense Package that includes a front and rear park assist system, preventing bumps and dents from unseen objects.

RAM COVERAGE

Ram prides itself in having the highest percentage of pickups still on the road over the last 30 years. That’s due to the care and testing that goes behind every truck model. Ram backs its diesel-powered trucks with a five-year/100,000-mile limited warranty, and gas-powered trucks are backed with a five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty.
