Ram Steps It Up with the 2019 ProMaster and ProMaster City

A NEW PRO IS IN TOWN

RAM PROMASTER

How much can it tow? What’s the payload capacity? Is it powerful enough for all our tools and crew?

These are questions you’ve likely asked before buying a vehicle to add to your fleet. A vehicle’s ability to haul is often an important aspect of the decision to buy a commercial vehicle. But don’t discount the desire to ride in style, either. Both of those needs are met in a Ram ProMaster.

“Ram has taken a larger presence in the commercial vehicle market with the help of our Ram ProMaster and Ram ProMaster City,” says Mike Manley, head of Ram Brand—FCA. “Our van offerings answer the key segment demands with class-exclusive features, greater capability, and low total cost of ownership.”

PROMASTER

Ram is filling in the gaps so customers receive exactly what they need upon the purchase of a ProMaster. Three new ProMaster models are now available from Ram: ProMaster 2500 Cargo Van, 136-inch wheelbase, low roof; ProMaster 3500 Cargo Van, 136-inch wheelbase, low roof; and ProMaster 3500 Cargo Van 136-inch wheelbase high roof.

Carry anything in the ProMaster, as it has the highest available standard payload in its segment in all three payload classes. The ProMaster 1500 has a payload of 4,000 lbs, the ProMaster 2500 has a payload of 4,230 lbs, and the ProMaster 3500 has a payload of 4,680 lbs.

For those who load their vehicle and haul a load, the 2019 ProMaster 3500 features a 30 percent increase in towing capacity with up to 6,800 lbs. And, a new Trailer-tow Group is available adding a Class IV receiver hitch with four- and seven-pin wiring harness. The ProMaster is easy to upfit because of Ram’s Vehicle System Interface Module with 13 inputs and 41 outputs that allow quick and reliable connections to vehicle systems.

New for 2019 on the cosmetic end of the spectrum is that the ProMaster received the new “RAM” grille treatment carried over from Ram trucks. The ProMaster also got black side panels, bumpers, and optional black steel wheels. Side rear windows with steel grates are now available on low roof models, and polycarbonate side rear windows are now available on high roof models. There is also optional interior LED lighting that is 20 times brighter with motion sensors, great for those early morning/nighttime working hours loading and unloading your ProMaster.

The Ram ProMaster is available in 18 configurations and comes with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission and a Pentastar V-6 engine offering 280 hp.

PROMASTER CITY

Ram’s Class 1 ProMaster City is the smaller package of the two. But don’t mistake smaller with less capable. Ram designed its ProMaster City with a focus on commercial customer needs and a low total cost of ownership. The ProMaster City is available in a two-seat Tradesman cargo van in two different trims (Tradesman and SLT). The ProMaster City has a payload of 1,885 lbs and a cargo volume of 131.7 cu ft.

The ProMaster City features an exclusive 9-speed automatic transmission, 178 hp, and 174 lb-ft of torque. This vehicle also has a driving range of 448 miles with the standard engine.

The designers of the ProMaster City also designed the exterior and body systems to collectively deliver outstanding versatility, practicality, and a level of refinement that is sometimes missed in commercial vehicles.

RAM TECH

Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City share technology such as Ram Telematics, powered by Verizon Connect. Ram Telematics sends real-time vehicle diagnostics and performance data, as well as allows for vehicle tracking and driver behavior data that helps save money on fuel, improve route efficiency, and promote safe driving.

The ProMaster and ProMaster City are also equipped with backup cameras, Bluetooth technology for hands-free calling, and the available Uconnect 3 NAV that features a full-color 5-inch touchscreen with Voice Command, integrated steering wheel controls, and a GPS Navigation with voice directions and a map display.

For those searching high and low for a dependable vehicle that can carry and haul, look no further than the 2019 Ram ProMaster and ProMaster City.
