The New International HX Series

International Truck designed its HX Series to be hardcore from the get-go. Designed for severe-duty applications, the HX Series is built rugged, durable, and with plenty of power to get the job done right. Earlier this month, International launched the next generation of the truck, the new International HX Series. It’s the first product released under the Navistar 4.0 and Project Compass initiatives that focus on flexible designs to meet customer needs and streamline the customer experience. So what’s new for the HX Series?

It’s the physical representation of our Navistar 4.0 strategy—putting the customer at the center of everything we do,” Mark Stasell says about the new HX Series. Mark is the vice president of Vocational Truck at Navistar. His statement packs a punch, but does the truck truly embody the sentiment?

EXTREME CAB

The new series features a larger and redesigned cab that makes the HX Series even more capable and durable in punishing conditions. It achieves this with a three-piece, crack-resistant hood that the International team engineered specifically for better front-forward visibility. The cab is structurally reinforced in key locations to ensure longevity; and it’s even protected by ChemGuard, LineX, and International Truck’s own topcoat process that protects the truck from salt and adds corrosion resistance.

International replaced all HX Series marker lights with LEDs, providing better nighttime visibility and reducing repair frequency. Inside the cab, drivers experience improved safety, comfort, and productivity. The cab features best-in-class HVAC and larger windows. It’s also available with International Truck’s most luxurious trim, Diamond Elite, complete with heated and ventilated seats. Bendix driver assist technology also improves driver awareness and safety.

EXTREME PERFORMANCE

OK, so the cab is nice, but is it easy to drive? International Truck worked to improve the new series’ maneuverability by making dual steering gears and advanced anti-lock braking systems available. The result is superior turning, traction, and control.

For your heaviest loads, International Truck’s HX620 comes standard with the brand’s A26 engine that delivers up to 500 hp to haul your biggest logging loads. The series also features a 12.5-inch by 0.5-inch single rail frame option that delivers 3.5 million RBM. It also includes a Huck-bolted frame and cross members on the chassis, a range of factory-installed lift axles, and a front tow pin option rated up to 150,000 lbs for emergency situations.

PARTNER UP

For those who desire Cummins engines, the Cummins X15 is available with the HX520 and HX620 models. This engine is capable of pumping out 605 hp and 2,050 lb-ft of torque. And if that isn’t enough durability, the series also features the new Hendrickson HAULMAAX HMX-EX suspension. The HX Series is available with the Eaton Ultrashift or the Allison 4000 Series Transmissions.

DELIVERING UPTIME

International Truck integrated its Diamond Logic electrical system into the new HX Series. The system offers an integrated, programmable, customizable electrical system that operates directly from the truck’s dash. With this system, drivers can operate bodies and upfits quickly and easily.

OnCommand Connection, International Truck’s remote diagnostics system, gives drivers and managers a look into the health of their fleet. It also allows International’s service network to predict the truck’s part needs so that dealers are always stocked and ready for repairs.

The HX Series is also backed by International’s service communications and fleet management platform, International 360. This makes it easy to communicate with International’s service network for fleet trucks of all makes and models.

STILL AHEAD

International Truck’s new HX Series was built for the tough stuff and focused on the customer. Stay tuned for a future review on the truck and all it has to offer drivers and owners. Find out more about the new truck, visit www.internationaltrucks.com.
