Mack® LR

With increased visibility and storage, an ergonomic design, and an engine that’ll keep you up and running, the Mack® LR Series is top contender in the heavy-duty market. Rear wraparound windows allow for easier urban maneuvering. According to Mack, “The Mack LR model is unlike any truck on the market. It puts the driver’s needs first with upgraded features designed to provide greater visibility and comfort for increased productivity. When you call for a truck to help tackle the demands of your day-to-day, Mack answers.”
The LR is also body builder ready. It’s engineered to make body installation easy and reliable. Plus, Mack has a dedicated body builder support group that ensures seamless collaboration between body builders, dealers, and customers.

The LR model is packed full of storage with a centrally located storage platform convenient for keeping paperwork, a cell phone or MP3 player, and more. Cup holders accommodate regular and large bottles, making it easier to pack heavier when there’s less time for stops along your route.
The LR model’s extended cab offers more room and a host of features, including:

  • A tilt and telescopic steering column
  • New seat positions
  • Suspended pedals
  • Knee bolsters and arm rests that allow drivers to adjust their truck for improved comfort and efficiency
  • Integrated air conditioner providing a factory-installed, climate-controlled environment
  • Interior and exterior LED lighting packages
  • Three door configurations—standard, flip, and bi-fold—and six door combinations
  • Hand-operated work brake, which allows drivers to go from start to stop by parking the truck on its service brakes with one simple motion for less wear and tear

The LR model keeps the latest technology within easy reach with a gauge cluster mounted to the steering column, Bluetooth enabled, hands-free radio with communications capabilities, and power window and door locks to make sure the driver is always in complete control. “LR model trucks reduce driver effort so you can do more. A low step 17 inches off the ground and large grab handles help drivers get in and out of the cab to ease the demands of a hard day’s work,” according to Mack.

The LR model is powered by Mack’s MP® Series engines. According to the company, “The MP Engine Series is the heartbeat of the Mack LR Series. These fuel-efficient engines deliver hp plus low-end torque to give you all the muscle you need to conquer the workday.”
The Mack MP7 diesel engine has two options:

  • MP7-325M: This option provides 325 peak hp at 1,400 to 1,900 rpm and 1,260 lb-ft of torque at 1,100 to 1,350 rpm.
  • MP7-355A: This option provides 355 peak hp at 1,500 to 1,800 rpm and 1,280 lb-ft of torque at 1,000 to 1,450 rpm.

Also available on the LR is the Cummins Westport ISL G 320 natural gas engine providing 320 hp at 2,000 rpm and 1,000 lb-ft of torque at 1,300 rpm. Three transmission options are available for the LR, including the 6-speed Allison 3000-RDS, the 5-speed Allison 4500-RDS, and the 6-speed Allison 4500-RDS. The Allison 4500-RDS options are available with or without an output retarder. With a 20,000-lb capacity front axle and your choice of 38,000-, 40,000-, 46,000-, or 52,000- lb rear axle capacity, the LR will be able to smoothly handle your payload, day in and day out. The LR model is also available in a 4×2 configuration with a standard 23,000-lb rear axle.
Thinking of adding a new heavy-duty truck to your fleet lineup? The LR is specifically designed to excel in Refuse, with front loader, rear loader, and side loader applications.
