HARBINGER HC SERIES CAB

THE ELECTRIFIED MEDIUM-DUTY LOW CAB FORWARD WORK TRUCK

Harbinger’s new HC Series Cab is a medium-duty, low cab forward (LCF) vehicle available as both an electric and plug-in hybrid model. Harbinger promises that the HC Series offers enhanced maneuverability, driver comfort, safety, and operational cost savings.

“The HC Series Cab represents a major expansion of our product line and a defining moment for the medium-duty industry,” says John Harris, co-Founder and CEO, Harbinger. “For too long, fleets have had to compromise between payload, maneuverability, range, and onboard capability. We engineered this platform to outperform legacy diesel options while unlocking new advantages through electrification and our range-extended hybrid system to enable real work in the field.”

FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE

HC Series box trucks are available in four wheelbases, each with different capabilities, allowing fleets to customize their orders for what they need. The shortest wheelbase is 158-inches, which offers a cab axle of 129.6”, GVWR of 16,000 to 22,000 lbs (in class 4, 5, and 6), overall length of 23 feet, turning diameter of 42’, cargo volume of up to 990 cubic/feet, and a box size of 16 to 18’. Next is the 176” wheelbase model with a cab axle of 149.6”, GVWR of 19,500 to 26,000 lbs (in class 5 and 6), overall length of 27’, turning diameter of 50’, cargo volume of up to 1,240 cubic/feet, and a box size of 20 to 22’. Next is the 208” wheelbase model with a cab axle of 179.6”, GVWR of 19,500 to 26,000 lbs (in class 5 and 6), overall length of 29’, turning diameter of 56’, cargo volume of up to 1,490 cubic/feet, and a box size of 20 to 26’. On the to end is the 235” wheelbase model with a cab axle of 206.6”, GVWR of 26,000 lbs (class 6), overall length of 31.3’, turning diameter of 60’, cargo volume of up to 1,800 cubic/feet, and a box size of 24 to 26’. All wheelbase sizes have a box height of 97”.

HC Series trucks are available in flatbed truck, stake truck, box truck, among others.

WARRANTY

Harbinger Motors offers a robust warranty for their vehicles. The HC Series is no exception, with a five year or 60,000 miles warranty on complete stripped chassis; 10 years or 200,000 miles drivetrain warranty; 10 years and unlimited miles frame warranty, and 10 years and unlimited miles or 2,000 cycles propulsion battery pack warranty. According to Harbinger, the HC Series is designed for 450,000 miles, and a service life of 20 years.

POWERING THE TRUCK

The Electric Drive Unit houses the motor, transmission, and differential in one package. The 12-pole permanent magnet motors offer 440 horsepower and 1,140 lbs/ft of torque. The battery pack system offers 35kWh packs that can be configured in four to six pack arranges, which give 140-210 miles of range. The packs are cased in aluminum, and have an 800-volt architecture, and integration with exciting systems. Also, the thermal management system uses three dedicated loops to control cabin, drive unit, and battery temperatures. The system helps to improve battery life and cabin comfort.

As with many electric vehicles, HC Series can be used as a mobile power station to deliver power for tools and equipment on jobsites for periods of time.

A range-extended hybrid platform uses a gasoline engine to recharge batteries, which can extend range up to 500 miles. The platform supports full power take-off (PTO) functionality to operate hydraulic and body-mounted equipment. Furthermore, Harbinger offers an onboard AC inverter option delivering up to 15 kilowatts of exportable power on EV and hybrid models. In hybrid configuration, the system can sustain continuous 15-kilowatt power export through onboard generation.

UNIQUE PROPOSITION

Harbinger HC Series Cab is built on proprietary vertically integrated electric architecture, which includes all major vehicle systems that the company designs and manufactures in-house, including the powertrain, battery system, steering, brakes, and more. According to Harbinger this keeps costs low and provides a higher-performing, safer, and more durable solution than electric vehicles built upon existing diesel and gasoline platforms. Shared components help fleets streamline service parts, simplify maintenance, and improve uptime.

AI ENABLED

In addition to the safety features that include backup cameras with dynamic trajectory, virtual bumpers, and acoustic vehicle alerting systems. Harbinger also offers Phantom AI advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that feature emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane keeping.
