HV SERIES POWER

What’s needed from a work truck? That all depends on where and how the truck will be used. One International HV owner might have vastly different needs from the next HV owner, but International designed the HV Series to be prepared to handle them all.

Choose between three different engines with the International HV, whichever makes the most sense for the job. The International A26 engine was designed to be efficient and quiet—it’s also the lightest engine in its class. It offers 365 to 515 hp and 1,250 to 1,850 lb-ft of torque. For Cummins loyalists, the International HV can accommodate a Cummins B6.7 or Cummins L9 engine. Offering 200 to 360 hp and 520 to 800 lb-ft of torque, the Cummins B6.7 is a great option for lighter jobs that require dependability and fuel efficiency. The reliable Cummins L9 features best-in-class power density and offers 260 to 450 hp and 720 to 1,250 lb-ft of torque.

Owners also have the option of choosing between several different transmissions. Automatic transmission choices include Allison 2000, 3000, and 4000 Series. Automated manual options include Eaton UltraShift PLUS 10, 11, 13, and 18-speed transmission as well as Eaton Fuller Advantage 10-speed transmission. Manual transmission options include the Eaton Fuller 6, 10, 11, 13, 15, and 18-speed transmission.

Not only can the truck powertrain be customized according to the owner’s needs, several other aspects of the truck can be customized as well. The dash features up to 30 programmable switches with customizable lights, colors, and labels. Owners can also choose between 48 variants of auxiliary gauges. To help it all come together, the new cab can easily accommodate new hard-wired switches.

COMFORT IS STANDARD

International offers its HV Series in two trims: Classic and Diamond. Its Classic trim features soft-touch vinyl that’s easy to clean with an overhead console that features retainer nets. An eight gauge information cluster features a 3.5-inch digital display that helps drivers view necessary information. Drivers will also have access to up to three USB ports to charge their devices. The Diamond trim features International’s premium upgrades. These upgrades include: padded, soft-touch door panels; a large, 5-inch color display panel; and black cherry accents throughout the cabin.

We mention spoiling drivers above, but really, that’s something International takes care of even in its standard models. The HV Series features updates that were brought upon by listening to hundreds of real drivers’ needs and desires. These updates include a new column shifter that is mounted to the steering wheel, offering a gear shift at quick glances allowing drivers to keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel as much as possible. Speaking of keeping hands on the wheel and eyes on the road, International HV engineers also placed controls and displays in easy-to-reach places for optimized safety—even the air horn has been relocated because of driver feedback.

There is also now more space in the cab, increasing leg room, elbow room, and hip room. The armrest height has also been adjusted, and improved door seals and a redesigned window also reduce noise for a quieter, more comfortable ride. Also contributing to comfort is an all-new, reengineered from the ground up HVAC system. It features redesigned vents that improve cabin airflow and circulate heat in the winter and allow side vents to be completely closed. Not only does the new HVAC system improve driver comfort, it also contributes to improved safety because of the system’s max defrost setting that clears a windshield faster than the competition.

SAFETY CENTRAL

Increasing truck safety for operators and other motorists has been a significant factor in truck design. The International HV Series is no different, featuring designs and technology that give drivers confidence behind the wheel.

The series features standard front and rear air disc brakes that provide shorter stops with more braking power. The HV Series’ electronic stability control assists in rollover and under- and over-steer situations as well as slippery and heavy braking situations. The HV Series’ sloped hood also provides better visibility of the road ahead, and one-piece windows, unobstructed side views, improved hood and cab mirror placements, and a low-rake windshield also contribute to improved visibility. This is also ideal for vocational applications such as construction or a presence at crowded jobsites where optimum visibility is a must.

There are also added features in the instrument cluster that aid in driver safety. One toggle card featured in the digital display shows drivers specific axle loading; safety alerts, such as veering too far out of the lane, are also displayed. Drivers can also easily monitor tire pressure from the digital cluster to improve safety and fuel economy.

DIAMOND LOGIC

Would it be an International truck without the ability to feature the International Truck Diamond Logic electrical system? Considered the most advanced electrical system in the industry, Diamond Logic improves operations for body builders and operators by streamlining chassis and body equipment integration. With Diamond Logic, customers can program automated tasks, which aids in increased equipment and operator protection as well as consistent performance.

FOR THE JOB

For vocational fleets such as utility, concrete, construction, or utility, let the International HV Series become just what’s needed to fit the bill. The truck’s multiple configurations, powertrains, and gauge and auxiliary options can become just what the fleet owner ordered—being a perfect fit for the job and the driver.
