Power Aplenty in the 2018 GMC Sierra 1500

TOUGHNESS AND COMFORT COEXIST

Sierra 1500

The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup truck is a fine example of toughness and comfort seamlessly coexisting in one vehicle. One look inside this fresh model readily reveals GMC has elevated the standard for truck interiors. Crafted with available premium materials, like the soft-touch instrument panel with real aluminum trim, technologies like 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot, superior comfort, and advanced safety features, the Sierra’s interior offers the complete package. At the same time, powerful engine options, innovative trailering technologies, and an available towing rating of 12,500 lbs ensures you’ll have all the power you need to get the job done.

QUIET CABIN RIDE

Sierra’s cabin is engineered to provide you and your passengers with a quiet, comfortable experience. Features contributing to a serene ride include triple door seals that keep road noise at bay, and hydraulic body and engine mounts geared to reduce vibrations, according to GMC. Combine those with aerodynamic noise-reducing exterior mirrors, a valved exhaust system that reduces engine noise, and a Bose® Active Noise Cancellation System, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a ride you might just hope never ends.

Whether you’re on a jobsite or at a kid’s football game, when the outdoor elements are harsh, you’ll appreciate stepping into the cabin, taking a place on the heated, ventilated, and perforated leather-appointed seats, and grabbing hold of the heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel. For today’s common practice of carrying business cargo such as laptops, file folders, and multiple cell phones, the spacious center console and wireless charging pad are a must. Rounded out with USB ports, 12V charging outlets, an available 110V power outlet, and locking under-seat storage on SLE and SLT models with front bench seating, you’ll routinely wonder how you ever did without.

ONBOARD TECHNOLOGY

Staying connected, readily available, and in control are norms in today’s work world. The 1500’s available 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen GMC Infotainment System is a key component in making all of the above effortless. Features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Capability, smartphone integration for hands-free calling and phone book access, Bluetooth® connectivity, natural-language voice command, and available navigation make communicating with colleagues and customers, as well as mapping the quickest route to your destination, easy.

POWER AND TRACTION

If fuel efficiency is a priority, the EcoTec3 5.3L eAssist engine will serve you well. It’s the most fuel-efficient V8 available in a pickup truck. If for you, power takes a front seat, you’ll like the 6.2L engine, which offers the most V8 horsepower in the light-duty segment, GM says.

When traveling on rough terrain, you’ll appreciate the Hill Descent Control that allows you to maintain control when descending across jagged, bumpy surfaces. And, the Eaton automatic locking rear differential improves traction and enhanced driver control.

TRAILERING AND HAULING

It’s where the rubber hits the road that you’re sure to appreciate the trailering and hauling technologies included in this smart, new package. Many of us have experienced the sometimes difficult task of hauling a heavy load uphill—when the moment it takes to move your foot from the brake to the accelerator seems like a lifetime. In that moment, a backwards roll can make you feel out of control. With the 1500’s new Hill Start Assist, under certain conditions in this scenario, the brakes engage momentarily to give you just the extra time you need to stay in place, according to GMC.

Also included or available are features such as trailer sway control, Tow/Haul Mode with cruise and powertrain grade braking, Integrated Trailer Brake Controller, and an optional Max Trailering Package with trailering-mirror mounted LED rear guidance lamps and a rear-vision camera.

DURABILITY

If you’ve got a huge load to haul, the 1500’s truck bed is ready to take on even the heaviest cargo because of its roll-formed high-strength steel construction delivering professional grade durability. The available spray-on bed liner provides a tough, additional layer of protection against scratches and dings. When it comes to cost and convenience, stretching out the time between brake replacements is a desirable feature for any vehicle owner. The 1500’s DURALIFE™ brake rotors can double brake life compared to conventional rotors, by protecting against corrosion. Throughout the truck, the extensive use of galvanized sheet metal minimizes corrosion, leading to longer, cleaner usage.
