Every job has a specific set of tools needed to get it done. One of those tools is the transportation that is needed, and for most work truck fleets that includes a pickup truck. While smaller jobs can be done with a Ford Maverick or Ford Ranger, larger ones need to move up to the F150, and for those that need even more power, a Ford Super Duty is on tap. While the Super Duty starts as a F250, MWS was able to drive the one option more powerful, the F350.
The American-built (Kentucky and Ohio) Ford Super Duty, and namely the F350, is not a recreational truck; it is a truck that shines brightest when being used as a work truck. Why? It is a very capable truck that has powerful selection of engines, lots of payload, and towing to spare. It is also a truck that can be catered to any fleet, with a plethora of options.
FLEETS LOVE SUPER DUTY
According to Ford, Super Duty and Chassis Cabs have a 50 percent share of its class in utility industry; 47 percent share of its class in emergency vehicle industry; 53 percent in the mining industry; 37 percent share of its class in the forestry industry, 40 percent share of its class in the construction industry, 39 percent share of its class in services industry, and approximately 96 percent of heavy-duty pickup owners use their truck to tow.
Ford F-Series (F150 and up) has been the number one selling pickup truck in the US for 48 years, and the best-selling vehicle overall for the past 43 years. Ford as a brand has been number one in commercial vehicle for 40 years.

POWER AND CAPABILITY
Four engine options are available for Super Duty for 2026. Our tester had the first option a 7.3 liter V8 gasoline engine that offers 430 horsepower and 485 pounds/feet of torque. A smaller 6.8L V8 gasoline engine is also available and offers 405hp an 445lb/ft of torque. For those in need of a diesel and its massive torque numbers, two version of the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel engine are available. The standard version offers 475hp and 1,050lb/ft of torque. If that isn’t enough power, a high-output version offers 500hp and 1,200 lb/ft of torque. All engine options are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Super Duty has some impressive towing and payload numbers. The 6.8L engine is the payload leader, it offers maximum towing of 18,900lbs, while offering 8,000lbs of max payload. The 7.3L engine offers 22,500lbs of max towing, and 7,635lbs of payload. For the greatest towing power, a diesel engine is the preferred choice for many fleets. In turn, the regular 6.7L diesel engine offers 38,600lbs of towing, and 6,952lbs of payload. The towing king of the lineup is the high output 6.7L diesel engine with 40,000lbs of towing and 6,935lbs of payload. It is important to note the max towing numbers are achieved by using a Gooseneck or with the addition of a towing package. Conventional towing or fifth wheel towing numbers vary.
