Bridgestone and Penske Truck Leasing Extend Business Partnership Focused on Advanced Technology and Sustainability for Commercial Fleets

Bridgestone Americas and Penske Truck Leasing announced the contract renewal of their partnership to test, develop, and deploy Bridgestone advanced technology and mobility solutions for the commercial segment in the US and Canada with a focus on more cost-effective and sustainable results for fleets. As part of the agreement, Penske will also remain a preferred customer of Bridgestone commercial tires and Bandag retread tires.

“Penske is an invaluable partner and collaborator in the drive to produce better business outcomes and a cleaner, more sustainable, low-emissions future for fleets,” says Chris Ripani, president, Truck, Bus, and Retread Tires, Bridgestone Americas. “We are thrilled for the opportunity to continue serving the needs of the Penske organization and to extend this important strategic partnership into the future.”

CONTINUED SUSTAINABILITY

With this renewal, the companies will continue collaboration on technologies and products that offer efficient and sustainable outcomes for fleets. Penske uses Bandag retread tires as a core component of the partnership. The retreads offer significant environmental benefits including reduced CO2 emissions as well as natural resource extraction. Other environmental benefits include reduced water consumption, air pollution, and land use when compared to ultra-low cost, single-use commercial tires. In 2020, as a result of the relationship and using retread tires, Penske decreased tire waste by 11.5 million lbs.

Paul Rosa, senior vice president of procurement and fleet planning, Penske Truck Leasing, says the Bridgestone collaboration is important. “Together, we are able to provide our fleet customers with continued reliability, performance, over-the-road support, and enhanced sustainability,” Rosa says.

As a preferred and strategic partner, Penske will continue receiving access to information and updates on Bridgestone products and solutions. Penske will also receive comprehensive support and opportunities to evaluate and deploy advanced Bridgestone commercial tires and technologies.
