Class 7 and 8 Freightliner 114SD Plus offers a versatile and reliable platform. The 114SD Plus includes advanced visibility and driver assistance technologies that help improve safety and support uptime, from the moment the crew heads out to the jobsite through their return to their base.
Designed for efficient upfit, the 114SD Plus can be spec’d for any business with a number of different engine, transmission, axle options, as well as cab lengths. It offers seamless chassis integration, factory switches and indicators, and factory-backed connection points.
SPECIFICATIONS AND CONFIGURATION
Commercial trucks are always configured to the business that uses them. Each segment has unique demands and the 114SD is here to answer them. It offers three cab lengths, day cab (114” Bumper to Back of Cab), extended cab (140” BBC), or crew cab (162” BBC).
A variety of engine options are available from Cummins. Cummins options include Cummins L9 with 260 to 380hp and 860 to 1,250 lb/ft of torque; Cummins X10* with 320 to 450hp and 1,000 to 1,650 lb/ft of torque; Cummins X12 with 350 to 475hp and 1,350 to 1,700 lb/ft of torque; Cummins L9 (emergency rating) with 270 to 450hp with 860 to 1,250 lb/ft of torque; Cummins X10 (emergency rating) with 320 to 450hp and 1,000 to 1,650 lb/ft of torque; and the Cummins X12 (emergency rating) with 455 to 500hp and 1,700 lb/ft of torque.
Three types of transmissions are available on the 114SD Plus: manual, automated manual, and automatic. Manual options are Eaton Fuller 10-speed, Eaton Fuller 11-speed, Eaton Fuller 13-speed, and Eaton Fuller 18-speed. Automated Manual options are Detroit DT12 Vocational Series, Eaton Endurant XD, Eaton Endurant XD Pro, and Eaton Endurant Overdrive 12-speed. Automatic options are Allison 3000 Series and Allison 4000 Series.
It has two axle positions SBA (set-back axle) or SFA (set-forward axle), which can be configured in 4×2, 4×4, 6×4, 6×6, 8×6, 8×4, 10×4, or 12×4. Front axles come in Detroit, single, 10,000-23,000 lbs; Detroit, twin steer prep, 40,000 lbs; Meritor, single, 12,000-22,000 lbs or Marmon-Herrington, 23,000 lbs. While rear come in Detroit, single, 21,000-23,000 lbs; Meritor, single, 23,000-31,000 lbs; Detroit, tandem, 40,000-46,000 lbs; Meritor, tandem, 40,000-58,000 lbs; Dana, tandem, 46,000 lbs; or Meritor, tridem, 69,000 lbs.
DETROIT ASSURANCE SAFETY SUITE
Detroit Assurance Suite of Safety Systems offers technologies that work continuously to monitor the truck’s surroundings, enhance driver awareness, and assist when it matters most. They include:
Active Brake Assist 5, which detects the distance to objects ahead, calculating relative speed and providing visual and audible warnings if a potential collision is detected. When necessary, the system can initiate partial or full braking to help mitigate impact. In dynamic environments like stop-and-go traffic or approaching unexpected obstacles, it provides an extra measure of support.
When spec’d with a Detroit engine, Adaptive Cruise Control automatically adjusts cruising speed to zero to maintain a safe following distance from vehicles ahead, even in variable traffic conditions. By reducing the need for constant speed adjustments, ACC allows operators to focus more fully on their surroundings and driving conditions. When equipped with a Detroit engine and transmission, it can operate down to 0 MPH. For vehicles with third-party powertrains, ACC can decelerate down to 10 MPH.
Side Guard Alert monitors the passenger-side blind spot and alerts operators to objects or pedestrians in proximity. This feature is valuable in urban routes or active jobsites, where fellow road users or crew members may be close to the truck.
Lane Departure Warning tracks vehicle position and provides an alert if the truck unintentionally drifts from its lane. This added awareness supports safer highway operation and helps reduce the risk of roadway incidents.
MORE SAFETY ON TAP
The optional Bendix Intellipark electronic parking brake system is designed to help prevent rollaway caused by an improperly set or accidentally disengaged parking brake. By automatically engaging under certain conditions, for example if the vehicle begins to roll after being stopped, the system adds an extra layer of protection that’s particularly valuable on uneven terrain and busy jobsites.
A standard backup camera enhances rear visibility, along with optional front-, driver- and passenger-side cameras to give operators additional visibility when maneuvering in tight spaces. To support safer maneuvering, a rear-view camera with flexible mounting features an available end-of-frame position with up to 15 feet of additional cable for camera relocation.

They include: standard tilt and telescopic steering column and multifunction stalk-based shifter; optional pre-trip inspection switch; automatic wipers, automatic headlights and intelligent high beams; a 2,500 sq/in one-piece windshield; steering wheel with integrated PTO controls, and controls for hands-free calling; overhead storage console; noise-dampening cab insulation; seven-inch touchscreen with exterior camera display (including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, USB-C connection/charging, AM, FM, WX and Sirius XM Radio); and up to 24 overhead switches.
