COMPLETE TOW CONTROL

GMC is set to release the 2016 Sierra 2500HD mid-year. While the truck will see a few differences from previous year models, both additions and deletions, it still guarantees top-notch durability and performance. Some of the most exciting changes include the pairing of the Duramax diesel 6.6-liter V8 with the Allison® 1000 series transmission and Grade Braking, which automatically senses when you want to slow down.

EASY HAUL, EASY TOW

Sierra 2500HD offers a max trailering capacity of 14,500 lbs and a max payload of 3,534 lbs. Sierra 2500HD has upped its towing safety and control features, including digital steering assist, making handling at low speeds easier and giving an improved steering feel at high speeds; trailer sway control, which senses trailer movement and applies truck and trailer brakes, while reducing engine power; hill start assist, which holds the brakes to give you time to switch from brake to accelerator; and integrated trailer brake controller, which provides trailer brake integration with the truck’s brakes.
Sierra 2500HD lets you tow confidently. Its Duramax diesel exhaust brake uses engine compression, creating “negative torque” to help slow the vehicle. Grade braking automatically senses when you want to slow down and engages a grade braking shift schedule to help you maintain your desired speed. With its rear-vision camera and power folding trailering mirrors with LED rear guidance lamps, reversing and navigating tight spaces becomes a breeze.
Further trailering assist features include available hill descent control, which allows for a controlled descent in rough terrain without use of the brake pedal; StabiliTrak, which manages braking and throttle to help keep the vehicle on its intended path; and automatic locking rear differential to deliver increased traction.

GO FARTHER, FASTER

The 2016 Sierra 2500HD is the most powerful yet, unleashing 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque provided by its Duramax diesel engine. The truck benefits further from the Allison 1000 series transmission with overdrive. The Allison 1000 is designed to handle the higher torque capability of the 6.6-liter Duramax engine and helps improve fuel economy. Sierra 2500HD can travel an estimated 680 miles on one fill-up alone.
Sierra HD uses a direct injection system to aid in faster starting in cold weather and quieter operation. Sierra HD’s direct inject system provides maximum efficiency, allowing the Duramax diesel engine to start in as little as three seconds at -40 degrees Celsius.
But, who wants power without a little comfort in the ride? With a fully independent coil-over-shock front suspension and three-inch wide multistage rear leaf springs, Sierra HD offers a luxury-smooth ride. Sierra HD also offers something not seen in its class: a fully automatic locking rear differential. Delivering added traction in driving and wheel-slip situations, Eaton’s automatic locking rear differential senses the difference in speed between left and right rear wheels, then locks and turns both wheels in unison.

STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY

Sierra HD’s cab structure, fully-boxed frame rails, and major frame cross-members are made from high-strength steels, lending both structural integrity and a quiet cabin. 2016 adds style to Sierra HD with HID projector headlamps, LED signature front lighting, chrome grille surround and chrome bumpers, wheel arch moldings, available chrome belt moldings, and 20-inch polished aluminum wheels. Sierra HD’s corner step rear bumper with integrated handholds provides easy access to the bed when the tailgate is lowered or up. Available remote locking tailgate and LED box lighting helps you see inside when a tonneau cover is installed. Eight total tie-down hooks, including four moveable upper hooks, allow maximum security for your haul.
Sierra HD’s high-performance bedliner helps to protect your truck bed from scratches, dents, and corrosion by providing it with a durable, watertight seal, which utilizes a textured, non-skid, anti-corrosive surface. The bedliner covers bed surfaces below the bed rails, helping to extend the life of both your equipment and your truck.

SUPREME INTERIOR COMFORT

2016 brings a higher standard of interior comforts to Sierra HD. Premium available materials, such as the soft-touch instrument panel with real aluminum trim, lend superior comfort to Sierra HD. The cabin is engineered to provide a quiet interior with triple door seals that block outside noise, shear and hydraulic body mounts with hydraulic engine mounts to reduce vibration, and aerodynamic exterior mirrors that reduce wind noise.
Sierra HD offers leather-appointed seating surfaces and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, complete with contrast stitching throughout the cabin. The truck offers you the choice of duel-density foam seats or bucket seats with a large center console. Other amenities include available heated and ventilated seats, available wireless charging pad, available 110V power outlet, USB ports, 12V charging outlet, and locking under-seat storage with SLE and SLT front bench seating models.

HI-TECH SUPERIORITY

Customize your media with the available eight-inch diagonal color touch radio with IntelliLink, which comes standard on SLE and SLT models. With multiple customizable homepages, Bluetooth connectivity, Natural Language voice command, and smartphone integration for hands-free calling, Sierra HD’s tech offers convenience and safety. With Sierra HD’s 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, you can access any software for the job, any time. The available rear vision camera helps you maneuver and park Sierra HD, providing a view behind the vehicle, which is displayed on the radio screen. Sierra is the first heavy-duty pickup to offer the new available driver alert package, including forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and the safety alert seat, for optimum surrounding awareness.
