The Kenworth K270 is Powerful and Brings Ease to Your Operations

NOW DEBUTING…

KENWORTH K270

Looking for something lightweight, maneuverable, and also powerful? Kenworth has several trucks in its lineup that fit the bill. We’ve showcased a few Kenworths that are worthy of a second look—the W990 and the T880. But it’s time for a medium-duty Kenworth to take the spotlight. Here with its Modern WorkTruck Solutions showcase debut is the one and only Kenworth K270.

Kenworth built the truck around a driver’s needs and the job’s requirements. With an ergonomic interior, a powerful engine, and its ease of maintenance and maneuverability, this truck is deserving of a feature in our showcase.

WHAT’S INSIDE

The cab of the Kenworth K270 is spacious, quiet, and ergonomic—all of which are likely requested by your drivers when it comes to their “mobile office.” Drivers enter the cab through doors that open almost a full 90 degrees then enjoy an interior that measures a wide 82.5 inches, door-to-door. There is no floor-mounted center console to take up legroom or prevent cross-cab access, and the tall ceilings allow for best-in-class headroom.

From their fully adjustable air cushion seats (which are standard), drivers can easily see and reach their gauges, controls, and switches, making operations more efficient. Adding to that efficiency is the gauge cluster in the K270 that delivers real-time data and vehicle information all at a quick glance.

The gauge cluster also features a 5-inch information display that shows drivers fuel consumption, speed, engine RPM, oil level, fault codes, trip data, PTO counter, outside temperature, turbo pressure, service inspections, and more. And for drivers who take naps during their lunch break, there’s even an alarm clock!

Don’t let the lack of a large, floor-mounted center console convince you that this truck doesn’t have ample storage space. The middle passenger seat folds down to reveal two cup holders and a lockable console. There are three large storage compartments above the windshield, a glove box, and a lockable storage compartment under the bench seat to secure extra tools and equipment or more valuable items.

Standard features of the cab include cruise control, power windows and mirrors, heated mirrors, and AM/FM/USB/Bluetooth radio. All of which make daily operations more enjoyable.

Speaking of daily operations, we can’t leave out the simplification of routine maintenance checks in the K270.

EASY MAINTENANCE

The K270 makes maintenance a breeze. The hydraulic assist cab lifts in just seconds, offering a tilt of 55 degrees. This gives your mechanic complete access to the transmission, engine, air filter, and power steering reservoir.

For minor issues and daily maintenance checks, the front panel lifts to offer access to engine oil, washer fluid, and coolant. There’s no need to stretch when checking; the panel offers great access with feet firmly on the ground. The K270’s ease of maintenance ensures a work-ready truck in no time.

WORK READY

Drivers of the K270 are able to easily maneuver the truck, as it features a short bumper to back of cab (BBC) and a maximum wheel cut of 55 degrees. This allows movement in tight city areas where space is at a premium. And maneuvering in the night should be no issue with the Kenworth K270’s state-of-the-art complex reflector headlamps that project beams farther and more evenly in your path.

The truck was designed to maximize payload potential. The lightweight, durable chassis starts at only 10,000 lbs and consists of North American-supplied components. The frame is constructed of 120,000 PSI-rated steel with a 34-inch rail spacing.

Below the rail, standard 22.5-inch Bridgestone tires and steel wheels keep the K270 in motion and are also a great height for most loading docks. The Kenworth K270 comes in a standard chassis configuration and a clear frame rail chassis package configuration with multiple wheelbase options.

The K270 is powered by a six-cylinder, 6.7-L PACCAR PX-7 engine, delivering 220 to 250 hp and 520 to 660 lb-ft of torque. The PX-7 has a B50 rating of 400,000. It is paired with an Allison 5- or 6-speed automatic transmission. The K270 features a GAWR of 10,000 lbs in the front and 16,000 lbs in the rear.

Once you’re given the keys to your K270, Kenworth makes sure you stay in pristine condition with its PremierCare Parts and Service program. With preventive maintenance programs, expedited servicing, cost management service cards, and complementary roadside assistance, PremierCare keeps you on the road and on the job.

The Kenworth K270’s ergonomic interior, powerful engine, and its ease of maintenance and maneuverability make this Kenworth worth a drive.
