The 2017 Chevrolet City Express Van Outpaces the Competition

The 2017 Chevrolet City Express van offers a range of conveniences, including 122.7 cubic-ft of cargo space, 20 interior cargo-mounting points, a fold-down passenger seat that converts into a work table, an EPA-estimated 24 mpg city, and a host of work-ready features that can turn this vehicle into a mobile office. Whatever the task, City Express has the tools and maneuverability to check it off your to-do list.

THE DRIVE

The City Express comes equipped with a 2.0-liter DOHC I-4 that puts out 131/97 hp at 5,200 rpm and 139/187 lb-ft of torque at 4,900 rpm, and is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). City Express features MacPherson strut with coil-over spring, twin-tube dampers and stabilizer bar front suspension, and solid axle with multi-leaf springs, twin-tube shock absorber rear suspension. Its electric power-assisted, variable-ratio rack-and-pinion steering increases ease of maneuverability. Front vented discs and rear drums with stability control system hide behind 15- x 5.5-inch wheels.

The 2017 City Express is a small cargo van with a structure that gives you a max cargo length of 82.8 inches behind the front seat and a full 48 inches of load width between the wheel wells. The large cargo area features 122.7 cubic-ft of customizable cargo space and a 1,500-lb payload capacity. The cargo area also offers six ft, 10 inches between the rear doors and the front seats in addition to four ft, six inches between the side walls.

The 40/60 split rear doors open up to 180 degrees, giving you easy access to the cargo area. Its tight turning diameter allows you to easily access the tightest city spaces while keeping your business moving.

Work is where you take it with the mobile office center console featuring a fold-flat passenger seat that creates a flat workspace and 13 storage spaces, including a place for laptops or hanging files. The two available 12-volt outlets keep you fully charged while you’re on the go.

Available Navigation offers full GPS navigation plus 2D/3D maps, points of interest, and SiriusXM NavTraffic with a three-month trial subscription, available only on LT trim (with Technology Package). Use Bluetooth wireless technology for access to your music, contacts, making hands-free calls, and more. Bluetooth connectivity for your phone is available on LS trim and is standard on LT trim. Available Rear Vision Camera System helps you back up safer, available only on LT trim (with Technology Package).

THE NAME OF THE GAME

Safety is the name of the game with City Express, which comes standard with six air bags, including dual-stage front air bags, side-impact supplemental air bags, and roof-mounted curtain air bags for side-impact and rollover protection. Four-wheel antilock brake system and electronic brake-force distribution are standard, as is the Electronic Stability Control and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. Rear Park Assist is available. Rear Vision Camera System is available with the Technology Package on the LT trim.

The 2017MY adds Hill Start Assist to cut down on unwanted roll back. Standard power locks with remote keyless entry—on all models—helps you keep your assets locked up whether you’re right by the car or not. A new security package includes over cargo glass windows (where equipped) to give greater security in the rear cargo area.
